SUSE Manager 4 Deployment and Initial Configuration

This course is intended to introduce students to the purpose, features, and benefits of SUSE Manager (SUMA) 4.x. The course presents the architecture of a SUMA system and the requirements for successfully installing these architectural components.

You will learn how to deploy and configure these architectural components of a SUSE Manager (SUMA) 4.x system step by step. Concretely, you will learn how to install and configure the SUMA Server, all types of SUMA Proxy Servers and the Salt Minion code for the target client servers.

This training helps you set up a functional SUMA system to begin exploring the myriad of management capabilities that SUMA offers to managed server clients. Regardless of the size of your organization, this course will get you up and running with a complete SUSE Manager 4.x system.

This course prepares students for the SUSE Certified Deployment Specialist (SCDS) certification exam in SUSE Manager 4.

Prerequisites

Participants must possess:

  • Familiarity with the Linux command line
  • At least one year of Linux system administration experience
  • Bash scripting skills.

We recommend that you have a SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) certification in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 or higher, or an equivalent level of experience.
